Join us for a virtual cooking class celebrating the Beyond Hunger Healthy Chef Challenge…Home Edition! The Healthy Chef Challenge spreads awareness about the importance of good nutrition, nutrition education and cooking classes designed to empower families with the knowledge needed to select and prepare healthy meals on a restricted budget. Local chefs and community members battled to prepare a 5-star entrée out of a mystery food pantry including dried white beans, collard greens, canned mandarin oranges and ketchup. Watch Chopping Block executive chef, Lisa Counts, get creative in the kitchen and transform her ingredients into a stunning Blueberry BBQ-Glazed Chicken with a Quinoa-Collard Green Salad and White Bean Hummus.
This class is in partnership with Beyond Hunger which provides hunger-relief programming and services to 13 zip codes across cook county including portions of Chicago and near-west suburbs. Their service offerings seek to provide the food, resources, knowledge, and skills people need to live healthy, active lives. All of the donations will go directly to the organization.
