Pinot Noir is wine’s wild child, the link between the undomesticated vine and Vitis vinifera, the vine species that creates nearly all wine today. Throughout the millennia, Pinot Noir has borne offspring (such as Chardonnay) and multitudinous mutations, some producing the most expensive flavors on earth. Join Advanced Sommelier, Mary Ross, as we explore 3 of the Family Pinot’s most prominent kinfolk: Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc and the only grape with its own Academy Award winning movie, wine’s ancient enfant terrible, Pinot Noir.
To enhance your experience, we recommend you’re tasting the same wines with Mary Ross during class. Order your three 750ml bottles of Pinot for curbside pickup from The Chopping Block Lincoln Square on Wednesday through Friday from 12-5pm or Saturday from 10am-4pm.
Wines Featured in Class:
- Pinot Grigio, Bozen, Alto Adige, Italy, 2018
- Pinot Blanc, Domaine Emile Beyer “Tradition”, Alsace, France, 2016
- Pinot Noir, Morgan, Monterey, California, 2017
If you’re unable to pick up the wines from TCB, we recommend you procure bottles featuring the same region and grape. This includes:
- Pinot Grigio from Alto Adige or Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Italy
- Pinot Blanc from Alsace, France
- Pinot Noir from a cool climate in California such as Monterey, Russian River Valley, Santa Barbara or Central Coast
Our virtual tastings, via Zoom, are a fun opportunity to watch your sommelier in action. Our Zoom moderator will make sure your questions submitted through the chat option are answered during or after class. The tasting packet will be provided upon registration.
