With its focus on seasonality, balanced and healthy meal structures, and beautiful presentation, Japanese food has so much to offer beyond just sushi and ramen. Join us for a special hands-on cooking class where you’ll gain insight into Japanese food, cooking traditions, ingredients and techniques necessary to prepare a traditional Japanese meal. Special guest, Mia Guild from the Japanese Culture Center, will join us during class to share her knowledge and passion for Japanese cuisine using food as a bridge between cultures. Menu:
- Miso Soup- Will be prepared in advance and served upon arrival
- Karaage (Japanese-Style Fried Chicken) with Mushroom Rice
- Quick Pickled Cucumber Salad
- Sauteed Eggplant and Green Peppers with Miso Sauce
- Kale Goma-ae (Kale with Sesame Dressing)
In this hands-on class, students will be paired in groups of three to five and work together as a team to prepare the recipes.
